How do you become proud of what you do?

You could be just passing the whole day at work without feeling that whatever you’re doing is not meaningful. Or you can be focused on your work and passionate about it. These are the approaches you can take for the work that you do, the things you create. It can be challenging to be proud of a job that’s repetitive and boring. Or if you think everyone is doing it, it can be a bit disappointing to do the same every day while believing that you’re not providing any real value to anyone. There are a few ways to be passionate and proud of your work, Let’s discuss them below.

Know the Reason behind your work

There’s no job which is being done without the actual need for it. If you’re working in a factory assembly line then the result of that factory is directly proportional to the amount of work that you do. You make an impact on your work, no matter how small it is or what you do. When you figure out the reason behind your job and the impact that it has. You’ll be much happier putting in those hours with focus. This will result in you being proud of what you’re able to deliver and also increase your performance.

Avoid complaining about your work

Focusing on the negative will make you feel less motivated to do the work. It’s tempting to complain when everyone is doing so, and it’s easy to get annoyed and irritated by someone at work. But it’s better to try and find solutions for the problems that caused others to complain or you. This will establish you as a good employee/business owner. It will help you feel more motivated to go to work.

Take responsibility

There are opportunities all the time at work, someone took a leave, you can fill in the gap for a day. Taking responsibility will help you gain more knowledge and experiment at your work. With responsibility, you also learn to own things. When you think that you’re the owner of the product you’re delivering, great things happen. Ownership of something will make you work on it with much more effort and optimize and fix the product that you’re creating with quality.

Focus on quality

When you deliver quality, you’re automatically proud of the work you’ve done. The testimonials from clients and recognition from your peers can be great for your mindset at work. You feel motivated to do more and work better. This takes a bit more time at work earlier, but when that quality shows, your career shines and you become proud of what you’ve achieved.

Be proud of your peers

You should be helpful and proud of your peers because no single person can do much. You need a team to build awesome things and investing time in your peers and team will help you get better too. I remember when I taught programming to my juniors, I also got a lot to learn from them at the same time. Helping and being proud of your peers at work will increase the quality of time you spend at work daily.

Give recognition to people you got help from

It’s easy to just let it slide if you’ve gotten help from someone and completed your work. But providing recognition and credit to them will lead to a much happier and healthier environment for work. Once you start doing this, other people will start doing this too. And voila, you’ve created a positive work environment for everyone in the team. Another thing to feel good about every day.

Daily Improvement

Try to make a little improvement in the way you work every day, it can be a very small improvement but once you start doing this, it multiplies in a short amount of time and it makes you very productive in a very small amount of time. It will also help you deliver quality and like your work more.
