by Manvitha Tenneti

There are different kinds of meditation forms that one can get into. With the increasing popularity of the benefits associated with Dhyana, there are many meditation schools and institutions that have come up with various techniques. Everyone chooses the form that they are interested in and also drawn towards. Some of the meditation techniques have to be performed under the guidance of a Guru or a teacher. But, there are a few meditation forms that can be done without anyone. The reasons can be many, but; the conclusion that one has to draw is to practice meditation constantly.

Amongst several other forms of meditations, Gibberish meditation from the Osho Foundation has been quite popular amongst many people. Influenced by Osho, a spiritual leader who took the word spirituality into another level altogether, Gibberish meditation can be performed by everyone at ease. This is probably one of the meditation methodologies that have been accepted by a lot of youngsters and the people in the west.

The human brains are always cluttered and can create more noise when you aren’t asking for any. Meditation is exactly the opposite of the famous quote, “Empty vessels make more noise’. Yes, when you are performing Dhyana, it is essential to empty your minds and create a lot of free space to pile necessary things. As we all know, brains are the storehouses of thoughts, and it can save everything that you feed. Segregating thoughts and focusing on the ones that matter to you happens only with proper and constant meditation practice. In this article, we will explain to you another form of meditation, the Gibberish meditation, benefits that are associated with it, and the ways to perform it.

There are two levels to perform Gibberish meditation. As the term Gibberish represents, ‘babbling,’ the first step of this Dhyana might seem like prattle to you. Well, that’s the whole intention behind the concept of Gibberish meditation. The human mind is always occupied with one or the other things, and each thought is associated with different kinds of emotions. This meditation technique encourages the practitioner to clear their minds off by letting their emotions out in the forms of noises; you can make different kinds of sounds. People can make weird noises and let their feelings out; however, one cannot speak in a language that can be understood. That’s the catch of this whole meditation! When you are speaking, the mind understands it in the form of words; this meditation’s main idea is to break that pattern and feel relaxed. When you are making sounds, the pattern of verbalization fails to create vacant space in the brain.

Steps to practice Gibberish meditation:

Step- 1 – Letting all the emotions out:

When you practice the first step, it is mandatory to spit out everything that comes to your mind. It is fantastic if you can scream your lungs off and release all the toxins from your heads. You might feel it is extremely crazy, but that is the key that makes the Gibberish meditation a successful one. Let it completely lose and make noises and sounds that are completely insane and are meaningless.

Well, along with the meaningless sounds, you can also use emotions like laughing, crying, screaming, mumbling, and everything else; however, emptying the minds is essential. Some people might feel like dancing, kicking, jumping, and sitting at one corner, etc.… You can do all these things without any restrictions as long as you are freeing up space in your brains. Once you are done with all the ranting and the musings, it will proceed towards the second step.

Step 2 – Sitting in silence:

The second step is the most difficult one! Once, after all the screaming and shouting, there would be a lot of energy loss. The brain would also be empty, and now it is time for you to choose an apt place and sit quietly as long as you can. During this time, it is important to observe each and everything that happens to you. The feelings, emotions, and also your surroundings require a complete watch. This is the phase where you are drawing energy inwards and allowing yourselves to calm down completely. This is that point where you become mindful and allow yourself to become one with peace. The silence that you seek would re energize you and prep you for the following day’s activities.

Follow these tips to make the best of Gibberish Meditation:

  • When you move towards the second step, remember to choose a place that can make you feel nice and comfortable.
  • With all the energy gone, you may find it tough to sit on the floor. If you are not willing to sit on the floor, remember to occupy a properly cushioned chair.
  • Remember to sit straight and do not slouch irrespective of the surface that you choose to sit.
  • The flow of energy always happens from the tip of the spine, and thus, sitting straight is one of the most important things to follow.
  • Place your head back if you are sitting on the chair and focus completely on the silence that you experience.
  • Also, you need to pay complete attention to your breath and try to keep it neutral. Breathing too fast or too slow would kill the concentration quickly.

It is also important to watch over their thoughts and not allow them to get carried away. This shall happen only when you are relaxed. Hence, keeping your body stress-free is important. Else, you are again going to get succumbed to the thoughts that you should not be in the first place.

Well, these are some of the most important things that you should know about gibberish meditation. Once you have learned all these things, don’t you think you must also start practicing this meditation and see some fantastic transformation in your lives?
